Again... what?

How can you defend a thread, when you throw completely meaningless words around?

The major issue with your idea is that it would completely remove the need for dye if we had a tome that contained every colour. But dye tomes would cost alot to buy, because you would base the price on the highest colour cost.

A tome of dye would have to only contain the most expensive colours to make it efficient (when trading them).

It would be an item which was limited to richer players, so what if you only wanted the red colour? A colour which is cheap from the dye trader. The poorer places couldnt get access to them!

So all that ends up doing is putting black and white into one object, and removing the need to stack blacks and whites. I still dont need why we need that?

Not to mention that a person who stacks 10x blacks or whites, is most likely trading them and I dont really want the dye system changed to benefit them, if their just doing it to trade.

You also talk about adding sparkley, metalic and another dye colour.

What if those colours ended up cheap as individual dye colours? As explained above, it wouldnt be efficient to include in an expensive Tome of dye.

I think it would be great to have some more customising in armor, but your idea is either too complicated or not required. We just need Anet to allow us to dye armor differently using the existing preview system.

best is to give this stupid colors just simple a place in the chest, like anet did for stupid materials and rare materials > finish ..

do this than with runes, upgrades, Armors (in combination with runes), keys, food ect. too, and we would simple get the PERFECT chest ...

but nooooo, dumb chest stays it seems ever so stupid, as it is, with only a special part for materials -.-

how about a tab in your storage that lets you stack dyes like materials...makes more sense in terms of saving inventory space than destroying the dye market

The issue with that, is that once we got a "dye tab", people would want an "armor tab" and then a "weapon tab". Its understandable to have a materials one, because there are countless materials to store.

But we only have about 10 dye colours, so its pointless to dedicate an entire tab to that.

i would rather have a dye book which has slots in it and you can store every color in and stack the vias
like with the chick incubator where u could put all the stuff in and still occupy only 1 storage slot
would be nice solution as dye storage

Wtf do you need dye storage for?! Buy the dye, apply it, done.

The whole idea of a dye tome is stupid anyway.

/close please.

I think a tome of dye is ridiculous... where would the ink come from? I think a Dye Tab is also ridiculous... although I do wish we could increase our storage accounts somehow... like rent a bank for a montly gold fee. I would do it, just to accumulate kappa shells and glittering dust

why not have a Tome of Dye 50 gold lets you preview every dye color on your armor. So instead of buying multiple colors just to see what they look like you can buy a tome for 50 gold :P
Only good idea in this thread.

Why not just google what dye looks like. I've seen every variation of every armor and every dye before I ever applied it. I went through this with my Norn armor before I just settled on white. If you were going to go with a dye tome, you may as well make a weapon tome, armor tome, focus tome, shield tome, etc... /closed was right... Also, there are third party apps that allow you to mod your character and do exactly what everyone here is talking about, without affecting the way you appear ig to other ppl. GOOGLE FTW!

The Dye traders depend on people having to sell the remaining dyes thay can't store to have stock.

That's why dye, scroll, rune or upgrade storage should never be added, and upgrade trainers should be added.

For being able to see the Dyes before purchasing them, the Preview window should be added to the inventory and every crafter, so you can see all possible combinatios without having to have the dye itseld, but if you try to apply in your inventory, it would say (You do not have all the required dyes for this combination in your inventory)

tome of dye is not a storage, sorry if you think tome of dye is an idea to reduce the storage to dyes.

the reduction to the number of dyes you need to keep is a plus to the tome. the main idea to the tome is so that you can have any kind of color with ease, using sliders. and if properly done, and anet allows it, it can replace the skin to your armor. like the sims 2 bodyshop can, it will be a huge thing if you have an in game official "skin/texture" modder available, I am sure a lot of players would love to mod their own texture and create some to share with friends and even strangers online.

So it's like having 4 dyes in one?

...?

And what would be the other dyes used for?

so the tome of dye slider allwos you to pick any color? or only vials of dye you have on char? but that would defeat the purpose if it was.

if it allowed you to pick any ye you wanted they wouldhave to be rare (Gold) drops, they they would go at least the price of black dye, since theres a slider that could mean that other dyes would have been implemented to get that colour which could mean the dye books go huge in price.

its ok to tome skills as they have no effect on the econemy, but dyes do, not massive but still.

Oh god, why was this thread resurrected. *facepalm*

That said, there's a post up above that I hadn't read back in 2007...I like the idea of dye preview being in an armour crafter's window so you can preview all colours without having to have them in your inventory, thus knowing what you need to get to have it looking the way you want.
